Intel has sorted out some of the scaling issues we originaly saw with multicore XEONs, so now we are happy to recommend this system, and it's big brother the CGR-6, as a fantastic high power/low latency option. The advantage this system gives over the single processor CGR-1 and CGR-2 is expandability (up to 8 cores), and more raw power for mixing. With this system and the stock 2.0Ghz processors in Cubase 4 for example, with RME or Lynx hardware; to run a 48 channel project at 48K, a 64 buffer setting, and 4 stereo headphone mixes, 2 reverbs with less than 45% CPU load is no big deal! Easily load up on VST-I's at 64 buffer beyond what you could imagine! Mixing? 250+ waves SSL channel strips at a 1024 buffer and plenty of room to grow!
