"Live Room"
This room is one of my favorite drum rooms ever. It turned out even better than I had hoped. It's unique room with a ceiling that slopes up to around 12 feet. The surfaces vary, and include drywall, wood (3 types!), 703 insulation, pegboard based resonators, brick, and glass! Additionally, ISO 1 which is almost completely dead opens up into the live room. So, if the door doesn't have to be closed... it can be opened varying amounts and it changes the tone of the room in a cool way. Also in this room are two very large GOBO's with 703 insulation on one side, and wood resonators on the other so they can be flipped around based on what you want. It can be very, very live... or tight with a beautiful flavor depending on how it is configured. Has worked amazingly on a wide variety of genres.
Oh, and it's not only for drums! Carl Marsh has recorded string quartets over here and was absolutely thrilled with the results. We have had an entire band setup in this one room and it sounded killer! Want guitars with a SERIOUS room vibe... oh yeah... this room is awesome.
"ISO 1"
This is a really flexible room also. It's mainly dead, but the back wall is wood and slopes out as it goes up. It can be used for vocal overdubs, acoustic guitar overdubs, guitar amps, etc. It makes a great room for bass and keys to setup during tracking as well. We also can configure it as a "programming" room, with a couple of keyboards, drum pad... etc. We have gotten some amazing acoustic guitar tracks in this room too. The wood on the back wall is really nice... and the door can be opened varying amount to allow the mics to capture some of the character of the live room. The more the door is opened... the more you hear!
"ISO 2"
I call this room the "Dead Room". It is covered in 703 all the way around and has almost no reflections at all. I love it for "in ur face" electric guitars. It's also become the favorite vocal iso of the bunch. Plenty of room for multiple singers for BGV's as well.
"ISO 3"
We call this the "Wood Room". It has real wood panel all the way around, with a cool 703 based absorber in the corner. This room rules for any stringed instrument... roomy electric guitars, steel guitar amp... etc. We just rented a Yamaha standup piano and stuck it in there for a project, and the client was THRILLED with the piano sound. There is plenty of room for a couple of people in this room if needed as well.
"Other"
The kitchen, hallway, and bathroom are all wired with mic ties as well. So, there is room to spread out with more musicians, or just experiment with different sounding environments in the same building.
"Studio B"
There is an iso in Studio B as well. It's about the same size as ISO 3, and is moderately live with a decent amount of 703 absorbers as well. This room can be a pretty cool overdub room as well.
